Description:

* This unit standard uses a fillable pdf for the assessment

Make your contribution count in a team — even if you’re not the one in charge

Working in a group doesn’t have to mean sitting back and hoping everything comes together. This course will help you become a confident, useful team member who communicates clearly, takes initiative and helps the group work towards a shared objective.

What you'll learn

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify a team’s objective, expectations and your own role
  • Communicate and behave in ways that support the team
  • Ask useful questions to get and clarify information
  • Carry out actions that help move the team towards its objective
  • Give constructive feedback to other team members

Through a real-life or realistic simulated team activity, you’ll practise these skills in action rather than simply learning the theory. Your group can work face-to-face, online or a combination of both.

Assessment Requirements

For assessment, you will take part in a team activity and contribute towards completing the activity. It will include asking questions and providing feedback to other team members.

Your participation will be observed and verified, and you may need supporting evidence such as emails, chat messages, meeting recordings, documents or photos.

No previous team leadership experience is required – the focus is on making an effective individual contribution.

These are practical skills you can use in school projects, workplace teams, community groups and other situations where people need to work together towards a shared goal.
