Description:

The purpose of this course is to teach learners how to maintain personal presentation and a positive attitude in a workplace where they are involved in customer contact.

People who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • describe personal hygiene and presentation requirements for their own workplace involving customer contact
  • describe factors that project a positive attitude
  • present a positive image in the workplace
  • maintain personal presentation and a positive attitude in the workplace.


It is important to be aware that some people, especially teenagers, may be self-conscious about their appearance and may feel a little embarrassed discussing personal presentation and hygiene. Take a sensitive and supportive approach to personal issues of cleanliness. Offer practical solutions and advice without focussing on, or drawing attention to, particular individuals’ issues.

It is expected that all learners completing this course either have current work (voluntary or paid) or they have access to a simulated environment provided by their place of learning such as a model salon, workshop, or cafe.
