Description:

The purpose of this course is for learners to be able to recognise discrimination and describe ways of responding to it.

Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • define discrimination according to the Human Rights Act 1993
  • identify grounds for discrimination (and give examples)
  • identify consequences of discrimination for individuals and groups
  • describe lawful exceptions where discrimination can be used (according to the Human Rights Act 1993)
  • give details about sources of advice and help for people experiencing personal discrimination
  • describe strategies for dealing appropriately with personal discrimination
  • describe procedures for making a complaint about discrimination in different contexts.
