Recognise sexual harassment and describe ways of responding

Level: 2 Credits: 3 Marking Service

Description:

The purpose of this course is for learners to be able to recognise sexual harassment and describe ways of responding to it.

Learners who successfully complete this guide will be able to:

  • define sexual harassment, situations, and relationships where it can occur and its consequences
  • describe how to respond to unwelcome or offensive sexual behaviour and how to raise a complaint, if needed
  • name sources of assistance to respond to unwelcome or offensive sexual behaviour.

NOTE:
This course includes descriptions of sexual harassment behaviours (as defined by New Zealand law). The issue of sexual harassment can be a sensitive one for many people. It is recommended that teachers check this course before giving it to learners. It is important that teachers use their discretion when providing this information, particularly if a learner has themselves experienced sexual harassment and/or sexual violation.
