Demonstrate knowledge of children's development and learning and their relevance to an ECE service

Description:

This course is an introduction to education and care of young children in an early childhood service. It is designed for people who intend to work, or are working with, children in an ECE service. People working in the wider education sector may also be interested in this unit standard. This unit standard will prepare people to advance to a higher level of study in ECE.

People who successfully complete this course will be able to describe:

  • the dimensions and progressions of the development and learning of children from
    birth to school entry age
  • the acquisition and development of language and literacies in children
  • environmental factors that may influence the development and learning of a child in
    an ECE service.
